After wiping out most of our time and energy in the Ancient Egyptian wing, we quickly learned on our first visit that we would not be seeing everything at the MET that day. Since that first trip, we’ve always selected a few “must sees” for our time at the museum and most recently explored the musical instruments section.

Down the street from Washington Square Park in the heart of Greenwich Village sits Caffe Reggio, a great little place that I have to visit at least a few times when I’m in NYC. I love how each time I return, I know the same dark oil paintings will be hanging on the walls, the cheesecake with strawberries will always be amazing, the ceiling will still look like it’s caving in, and I’ll find a cozy little spot in the corner to enjoy my cappuccino. In a city that can be ever-changing and often overwhelming, it’s nice to find a familiar place where time seems to stand still.

Petula Clark got it right. Things are pretty great downtown.

I’ve just returned from one of my absolute favorite places, New York City. As usual, I brought back with me a new “I heart NY” shirt (this time in turquoise), a Metro Card with money left on it (one more reason to go back), a few extra pounds (darn you Minetta Black Label burger!), wonderful memories, and about a thousand new photos.
While I still have a ton of editing to do, I wanted to share an image of my favorite building in the Big Apple, the majestic Chrysler Building.

Maybe there’s something special about your third time in New York City. Third time is a charm, right? The Tragically Hip even have a song about theirs, “Escape is at Hand for the Travellin’ Man” (check it out if you don’t know it, great stuff).
New York is always amazing, but my third trip there…
well my third trip was just perfect.
